Qasim al-Raimi, a top military commander for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, is threatening new terror attacks against the US and warned Americans that the group ”we will blow up the earth from below your feet.”
The statement goes on to say, ”You have attacked us in the midst of our household, so wait for what will attack you in the midst of yours”, according to a translation of the message from the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant Web sites.
The phrase, “‘we will blow up the earth from below your feet.” is an interesting choice of words. One can’t help but wonder if this is a signal to launch an attack, or a clue into the type of attack the terrorist group is planning.

The type of power required to actually pull of such a feet far exceeds the currently known abilities of Al Qaeda unless they have a nuclear devise.
An EMP attack is hard to implement over a larger area without a nuke and a delivery system like an ICBM the kind Iran is working on right now, they and North Korea could both provide the delivery system.
The to create a rift say along fault line would require a huge bomb bigger than those set off in Nevada in the past and it would have to set off way under ground at a strategic location, and I doubt they have the infrastructure in place here to carry off such a major undertaking. They tend to speak in metaphors and use symbolism more that literal meanings. I would call it an idle threat but they hope to cause a certain amount or worry or even panic. The best thing we can do is not panic and use good judgment and keep our eyes open for suspicious actions by people we don't know or shouldn't trust. Un other words profile Middle eastern types and watch them.
